I'm not saying it has been easy, it hasn't. I've had to call on my willpower more than once, especially when it came to beer (no alcohol - my choice though!) The truth is that you don't have to give anything up. The food I was eating, although in the menu's section of the book, was no different to my normal diet, apart from the amounts. Never during the six weeks did I feel hungry, a fact that I can only put down to the way that the menus are set out with the snacks between meals.

The only problem that I encountered was related to the times I ate. I work unsociable hours, therefore, planning the days menu and preparing the food for the whole day in advance (thank God for microwaves!) helped get over this problem.

I'm not a great lover of exercise, but the routine I did down at the gym never took more than thirty five minutes, and because this was only three times a week, it could easily be fitted into a daily and weekly routine.

Overall, I found this program to be brilliant! Easy to follow, food that you actually liked and enjoyed and only having to exercise three times a week. With a bit of forward planning, common sense, and the will to succeed, anyone can benefit from this program.

It worked for me! Why not try it yourself?

After finishing his first course, Ian partially followed the program again in preparation for his upcoming marriage, and lost a further 7 pounds. On his big day, he looked very trim, weighing in at 189½ lbs!

My congratulations to Ian, and his wife Karen.

The workouts were as simple (but very hard work!) as ever in Anthony's programs. Even though I have had experience of doing weights in the past, I would have felt more than confident to do this workout if I hadn't. The thing I love about it is that you spend half the time than others to do in the gym and achieve twice as much!

The diet intimidated me a bit at the beginning, I didn't like the idea of having to count calories. However, I soon got to know what I needed for each meal and I found adjusting the amount of calories I had each week by a varying number of snacks a day really useful. I can't deny that occasionally through the six weeks I just really craved sweet things but the snacks allowed me to fulfill my cravings without going over board and having a massive blow out. As ever, the diet encourages healthy eating and correct portion sizes. I found that smaller amounts do fill you up and I now always prepare smaller portions than I used to.

All in all, I found Perfect Waistline 2 incredibly easy to use and adaptable. Of course, you need the will power to want to achieve your goals, but Anthony makes it as simple as possible from there on!

I had used a few weight machines at the gym before but I did not think that only following a weights program would aid my weight loss, I thought I would build lots of muscle but how wrong was I!

The weights program was easy to follow and stick to and as it only took about 1/2 hour 3 times a week, it fitted in easily around the family. I found the diet very easy to stick to and the plug and play system made it very easy to fit everyday family meals into the program, this I found a great help as I was eating the same meals as everyone else just with some adjustments.

People cannot believe that I have only lost 7 lbs they think I have lost a lot more. The program has made a huge difference to my body shape!

I have now set myself a new goal to lose a further 7 lbs and I know that this will be possible if I just repeat the program again.

I knew from reading books and Internet articles that my training was reasonably good, but I must admit that at times I felt as if I was going nowhere fast. The new program helped me in two ways. First, it helped me to achieve my goal which I was VERY happy about, and second it taught me where I had been going wrong. Not only had I been worrying about many trivial things that would have had very little baring on my progress, I had been neglecting things that were essential for building muscle.

I managed to reach my target bodyweight at the end of the program, without increasing my bodyfat % very much, whilst juggling a 9 to 5 job, family and friends (a normal life!!) On average, I wasn't spending more than 90 minutes in the gym each week and yet I was experiencing better gains than ever. I did actually miss a few workouts due to extenuating circumstances, but it made no difference. I still grew! As I found out, more is not better, BETTER is better. Once you actually know what you are doing, it is a case quality over quantity.

It was fantastic at the end of the 12 weeks when I had my measurements taken, and I was able to see on paper just how much I had grown.

The best thing is, that if I ever want to increase my muscle mass in the future I will know exactly what to do. Knowledge is power.

When I started I wasn't in bad shape but I was chasing what seemed an illusive target of taking my body fat into single figures. The first week brought results. My body fat went down, I felt healthier and best of all my image of a constant state of hunger didn't become a reality. In fact I very rarely felt hungry.

35 minutes, 3 times a week in the gym seemed like cheating. At least it did until I was actually doing the workouts! People couldn't believe how what little time I invested resulted in what I achieved, yet those 35 minutes of really pushing myself contributed greatly to a final result I am very happy with.

This program does require will power but so does anything worth achieving in life. Doing this increased my self-confidence and made me feel healthier with little time taken out of my social life. If I can do it then so can you.

At first, the length of the program seemed a little challenging but being split into 3 phases made it much easier to stick to. I could set myself a goal to reach at the end of every phase, achieve it and have a greater incentive to carry on.

The idea of using weights also seemed a bit daunting. I had only ever used a few machine weights before. The routine was easy to follow and only doing 1 set meant I didn't get fed up or bored! Only taking half an hour 3 times a week meant it was really easy to fit in. I could easily get up half an hour earlier to go to the gym, which woke me up before going to work.

The diet was so easy and convenient because I could eat almost anything and had plenty to snack on throughout the day. I can honestly say I never felt hungry throughout the 12 weeks (and for me that's an achievement!)

The only thing I would suggest to anyone doing the program is to try and find a gym buddy. Doing the program with Alex meant I couldn't stay in bed or pig out on chocolate because I would have been letting him down too.

The highs? Being able to wear a slinky black dress at my 18th birthday party and feel confident that I looked good. I received so many compliments that I felt like a million dollars. I think it was quite a shock for people who hadn't seen me since I had started the program

The lows? I had to go shopping and buy lots of size 10 clothes... what a hardship for a girl!

I have to be honest and say that I was very skeptical about the whole Perfect Waistline world. I’ve trained using various systems (drop sets, reverse pyramid, weight circuit and so on) and therefore couldn’t believe that one set of ten reps at your highest weight could be of any value compared to other training methods. But Anthony’s name kept cropping up all over fitness boards on the Internet so I thought why not I’ll give it a go. So I started with a squat ten reps at my highest weight slow and controlled throughout.

I can honestly say that I have never worked so hard on the weights in my life! I was aching and sweating but afterwards felt so good and so alive that I carried on doing the same principle for other exercises in Anthony’s regime. And at the end of it all it felt as if my body had been thoroughly worked for the first time ever. And so I slowly became hooked on other aspects of Anthony’s plan the diet / proper hydration and am pleased to say that I have lost around two inches around my waist (33" to 31"), my friends are all full of plaudits and envy, and I’ve got so much more energy throughout the day.

I would thoroughly recommend this system to anyone out there that really wanted to look good and feel good. Anthony you are a star!!!

I had been thrashing around for 3 months in the gym doing CV work only and finding few real gains. I had been reading about Anthony's successes with previous "Perfect Waistliners" and I understood the theory he was putting forward. It made sense to me in that I understood the basis behind the calorie controlled balanced diet combined with the weight work. For once! Someone without a gimmick but good common sense based on scientific fact and I didn't have to avoid specific foods, only understand how to control my meals and food balance. Anthony's plain English explanations made it easy and the "Plug and Play" style menu system means I don't even have to fiddle that much with scales for weighing food anymore and can confidently select "ready made" foods when I'm out or at work.

Since starting the "Perfect Waistline" program I have reduced my body weight from 14 stone to 12½ stone and reduced my body fat percentage from 22% to 14%. I look so much better and although I still want to shift that last 4% body fat, I have no concerns that I will achieve that goal and then progress on to the "Hard Body" plan!

Cheers Anthony and squat on!

I bought Sculpting the Perfect Waistline after one of those scary reality-check moments....

Visiting my in-laws and being handed a photo of myself that had been taken only a couple of weeks before. Looking down I could see an old man, complete with two chins and overhanging gut. To top it off, I had a beer in one hand and a meat pie in the other. I was 26 going on 60, and more than overdue a change of lifestyle!

Next stop, the Mens Health UK website where, on the forums, I came across a number of posts written by Anthony, taken aback by the amount of time he spent (and still spends) helping out people new to the fitness game, I thought the least I could do was check out Sculpting the Perfect Waistline.

I can honestly say (and my results testify to this fact) that it's one of the best fitness decisions I've ever made.

It's a very well written book and pretty straight talking. I'm not going to tell you that the process is a breeze to go through, losing weight and getting fit is hard work. But it's hard work with a guarantee - because it pays off !

It all boils down to an investment of time and effort, chances are that if you're reading this, you're overweight and fed up with it, and it's taken quite a while to get into such bad shape.

If you invest only 6 weeks in this program you can undo a lot of the damage caused by an unhealthy lifestyle. Then repeat as needed until the 'Perfect Waistline' is yours!

Good Luck !

Well, six weeks done and a much slimmer version of me is writing this post...

Started: 19th July 2004
Weight: 194 lbs
BF%: 26.9
Lean Mass: 141 lbs
Fat: 53 lbs
Completed: 30th August 2004
Weight: 176 lbs
BF%: 16.4
Muscle: 147 lbs
Fat: 29 lbs

Which breaks down to:

Weight Loss: 18 lbs
BF% reduction: 10.5 %
Muscle increase: 6 lbs
Fat loss: 24 lbs

Needless to say I'm very pleased. I'm looking the best I have done in years and can finally wear a pair of Diesel jeans I've had sitting in wardrobe for god knows how long!

I think one of the greatest things about the program (apart from the obvious results!) is the sense of control it has given me over my body composition. I don't feel at the mercy of some unknown forces when it comes to fat loss anymore. I know now with certainty what I have to do if I ever find myself with a high body fat percent again. This sense of freedom from the anxiety of gaining fat, to me at least, is priceless.

After leaving uni, starting a career etc, settling into a routine devoid of much exercise became very easy. Deciding to do something about it was a lot more difficult. One of the hardest things was trying to find an exercise routine and sticking to it. There is a ton of information out there and it can get very confusing for someone trying to get back into a healthy lifestyle. In the end I decided to choose one and stick with it, and after seeing a few people mention The Perfect Waistline decided to take the plunge and go for it.

That was probably the best choice I could have made. The book is very well written and covers in detail the diet and the excercise plans, as well as why you are doing them which always makes it easier. More than that I found having a solid, definite plan made self-motivation so much easier. The fact that the gym sessions are under an hour at a time makes it much easier to stick to as it doesn't eat into your life as much as some of the plans I have tried to follow before.

6 Weeks has taken me from a uncomfortably tight 36" waist to having to constantly pull up my loose 34" trousers.

Thanks a lot Anthony - not sure if I would have achieved that otherwise. Now its time to sculpt that hard body!!

First fat loss phase completed.

Lost 10lbs of fat and despite having a week off going to the gym due to a family bereavement lost no muscle!!! Amazing.

Starting a second fat loss phase to get me down to 10% body fat.

Thanks Anthony!
