I'm
not saying it has been easy, it hasn't. I've had to
call on my willpower more than once, especially when
it came to beer (no alcohol - my choice though!) The
truth is that you don't have to give anything up.
The food I was eating, although in the menu's section
of the book, was no different to my normal diet, apart
from the amounts. Never during the six weeks did I
feel hungry, a fact that I can only put down to the
way that the menus are set out with the snacks between
meals.
The
only problem that I encountered was related to the
times I ate. I work unsociable hours, therefore, planning
the days menu and preparing the food for the whole
day in advance (thank God for microwaves!) helped
get over this problem.
I'm
not a great lover of exercise, but the routine I did
down at the gym never took more than thirty five minutes,
and because this was only three times a week, it could
easily be fitted into a daily and weekly routine.
Overall,
I found this program to be brilliant! Easy to follow,
food that you actually liked and enjoyed and only
having to exercise three times a week. With a bit
of forward planning, common sense, and the will to
succeed, anyone can benefit from this program.
It
worked for me! Why not try it yourself?
After
finishing his first course, Ian partially followed
the program again in preparation for his upcoming
marriage, and lost a further
7 pounds. On his big day, he looked very trim,
weighing in at 189½
lbs!
My
congratulations to Ian, and his wife Karen.

I
knew from reading books and Internet articles that
my training was reasonably good, but I must admit
that at times I felt as if I was going nowhere fast.
The new program helped me in two ways. First, it helped
me to achieve my goal which I was VERY happy about,
and second it taught me where I had been going wrong.
Not only had I been worrying about many trivial things
that would have had very little baring on my progress,
I had been neglecting things that were essential for
building muscle.
I
managed to reach my target bodyweight at the end of
the program, without increasing my bodyfat % very
much, whilst juggling a 9 to 5 job, family and friends
(a normal life!!) On average, I wasn't spending more
than 90 minutes in the gym each week and yet I was
experiencing better gains than ever. I did actually
miss a few workouts due to extenuating circumstances,
but it made no difference. I still grew! As I found
out, more is not better, BETTER is better. Once you
actually know what you are doing, it is a case quality
over quantity.
It
was fantastic at the end of the 12 weeks when I had
my measurements taken, and I was able to see on paper
just how much I had grown.
The
best thing is, that if I ever want to increase my
muscle mass in the future I will know exactly what
to do. Knowledge is power.

At
first, the length of the program seemed a little challenging
but being split into 3 phases made it much easier
to stick to. I could set myself a goal to reach at
the end of every phase, achieve it and have a greater
incentive to carry on.
The
idea of using weights also seemed a bit daunting.
I had only ever used a few machine weights before.
The routine was easy to follow and only doing 1 set
meant I didn't get fed up or bored! Only taking half
an hour 3 times a week meant it was really easy to
fit in. I could easily get up half an hour earlier
to go to the gym, which woke me up before going to
work.
The
diet was so easy and convenient because I could eat
almost anything and had plenty to snack on throughout
the day. I can honestly say I never felt hungry throughout
the 12 weeks (and for me that's an achievement!)
The
only thing I would suggest to anyone doing the program
is to try and find a gym buddy. Doing the program
with Alex meant I couldn't stay in bed or pig out
on chocolate because I would have been letting him
down too.
The
highs? Being able to wear a slinky black dress at
my 18th birthday party and feel confident that I looked
good. I received so many compliments that I felt like
a million dollars. I think it was quite a shock for
people who hadn't seen me since I had started the
program
The
lows? I had to go shopping and buy lots of size 10
clothes... what a hardship for a girl!

Duration: 20 weeks
Weight Before: 200 lbs
Weight After: 164 lbs
Total Loss: 36 lbs
I
bought Sculpting the Perfect Waistline after
one of those scary reality-check moments....
Visiting
my in-laws and being handed a photo of myself that had
been taken only a couple of weeks before. Looking down
I could see an old man, complete with two chins and
overhanging gut. To top it off, I had a beer in one
hand and a meat pie in the other. I was 26 going on
60, and more than overdue a change of lifestyle!
Next
stop, the Mens Health UK website where, on the forums,
I came across a number of posts written by Anthony,
taken aback by the amount of time he spent (and still
spends) helping out people new to the fitness game,
I thought the least I could do was check out Sculpting
the Perfect Waistline.
I
can honestly say (and my results testify to this fact)
that it's one of the best fitness decisions I've ever
made.
It's
a very well written book and pretty straight talking.
I'm not going to tell you that the process is a breeze
to go through, losing weight and getting fit is hard
work. But it's hard work with a guarantee - because
it pays off !
It all boils down to an investment of time and effort,
chances are that if you're reading this, you're overweight
and fed up with it, and it's taken quite a while to
get into such bad shape.
If
you invest only 6 weeks in this program you can undo
a lot of the damage caused by an unhealthy lifestyle.
Then repeat as needed until the 'Perfect Waistline'
is yours!
Good
Luck !

Well,
six weeks done and a much slimmer version of me is writing
this post...
Started:
19th July 2004
Weight: 194 lbs
BF%: 26.9
Lean Mass: 141 lbs
Fat: 53 lbs |
Completed:
30th August 2004
Weight: 176 lbs
BF%: 16.4
Muscle: 147 lbs
Fat: 29 lbs |
Which
breaks down to:
Weight
Loss: 18 lbs
BF% reduction: 10.5 %
Muscle increase: 6 lbs
Fat loss: 24 lbs
Needless
to say I'm very pleased. I'm looking the best I have
done in years and can finally wear a pair of Diesel
jeans I've had sitting in wardrobe for god knows how
long!
I
think one of the greatest things about the program (apart
from the obvious results!) is the sense of control
it has given me over my body composition. I don't feel
at the mercy of some unknown forces when it comes to
fat loss anymore. I know now with certainty what
I have to do if I ever find myself with a high body
fat percent again. This sense of freedom from
the anxiety of gaining fat, to me at least, is priceless.
